Down pillows to sink into
Down pillows: Swiss craftsmanship
for restful nights
Down is the finest filling material nature has to offer: delicate, quill-free flakes with countless fine branches that trap air and conform to every movement. This is precisely what our down pillows are made from. They keep you warm on chilly winter nights, have a pleasantly regulating effect in summer, are breathable and reliably wick away moisture. After being fluffed up, they effortlessly return to their full shape.
For our down pillows, we use top-quality new goose down of European origin, filled in accordance with the Swiss quality standard Swiss Guaranty VSB. Covers made from breathable cotton or lustrous mulberry silk keep the filling down-tight. Many models also carry the NOMITE® label, making them suitable for those with house dust mite allergies.
Because sleep is as individual as you are, you can choose from soft, medium and adjustable levels of support, as well as from up to 15 sizes: from the compact 40x40 cm size, through the 40x80 cm down pillow, to the classic 80x80 cm down pillow. When you buy a down pillow from Schlossberg Switzerland, you’re choosing a tradition that has stood for textile craftsmanship, passion and care since 1833. You can find out more on our About Schlossberg Switzerland page.

Down or feathers: which is better for a pillow?
Down is lighter, softer and better at regulating temperature; feathers have a quill and give the pillow more firmness. Our 3-chamber pillows therefore combine the best of both worlds: a core of goose down supports the head and neck, whilst the surrounding chambers filled with down provide cloud-like softness. Pillows made from 100 % down feel particularly light and cuddly, whereas a pillow with 50 % down is firmer and less fluffy.
Goose down is generally more voluminous and has greater loft than duck down, which is why we use goose and eider down in our pillows. Compared to a synthetic pillow, down offers natural breathability and a particularly comfortable sleeping environment.
Washing, drying and caring for down pillows
With the right care, your down pillow will stay fluffy and fresh for a long time. Fluff it up daily and air it out only in the shade and in dry weather: direct sunlight, beating it out and vacuuming it can damage the delicate down. Wash your pillow at least once a year at the temperature stated on the care label, using a pH-neutral liquid detergent and without fabric softener. Repeat the spin cycle to ensure as little water as possible remains in the filling.
We recommend using a tumble dryer for drying: shake out the pillow every 30 minutes until the down is completely dry and has regained its loft. Depending on the amount of filling, this may take several hours. A down pillow dries much more slowly when air-dried, and the down may clump together. For the best hygiene, we recommend replacing pillows every two to three years. A matching pillowcase or pillow cover, such as one from our satin bed linen range, provides additional protection for the pillow. For the care of your bed linen, we recommend our Schlossberg laundry detergent: biodegradable and free from bleaching agents and optical brighteners.
